Honda Japan gets 2021 CRF250L and CRF250L Rally

KUALA LUMPUR: Good news for people living in Japan, as Honda has launched the 2021 CRF250L and CRF250L Rally in its home country. While both the bikes feature the same basis, the latter feature a sportier intent along with a few upgraded components.

Powering the 2021 CRF250L and CRF250L Rally is the same tried and tested 249cc single-cylinder DOHC engine with revised air filter, intake camshaft, ignition timing, and exhaust. The said unit makes 24 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 23 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The mill is paired to the same old six-speed transmission that has been revised for the 2021 model year. The gear ratios for one to five gears are shorter and are taller for the sixth gear. The clutch lever effort has been reduced by 20 percent thanks to the new slip and assists clutch.

For the 2021 model year, Honda has introduced an all-new frame that not only reduces weight but also balances strength. The CRF250L now weighs 4 kgs less (from 144 kg to 140 kg), while the CRF250L Rally drops 5 kg (from 157 kg to 152 kg).

Both the motorcycles feature an LCD instrument panel with large numerals with fuel gauge and gear position indicator. On the side is an ABS switch-off button for when the rider plans an off-road trip.

Apart from the common revisions, both the bikes benefit from some model-specific changes. For example, the 2021 Honda CRF250L gets -

  • A more comfortable handlebar angle
  • Narrow cut seat
  • LED headlamps and side indicators
  • Repositioned footpads (a little further than before)
  • Ground clearance: 245 mm
  • Seat height: 830 mm

2021 Honda CRF250L Rally gets -

  • 12-litre fuel tank (2-litre larger than before)
  • New handlebar that reduces vibration and places the rider a little more upright
  • Wider and more comfortable seat
  • Footpegs with rubber inserts
  • Ground clearance: 220 mm
  • Seat height: 830 mm

Honda has also introduced 'S' versions of both the models that offer enhanced ground clearance and seat height. The 2021 Honda CRF250L S version showcases a seat height of 880 mm and ground clearance of 285 mm. AS for CRF250L Rally S trim its seat height and ground clearance measures 885 mm and 275 mm, respectively.
