Honda introduces all-new Dio scooter in the Philippines
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda has introduced a brand new two-wheel offering in our neighbouring country, the Philippines, called the Dio. With its latest model, Honda aims to make the commute in the new ‘normal’ easy, stylish, and affordable.
It features a durable, multi-purpose design that will surely attract eyes on the road. Priced at just Php 49,900 (around RM 4304), the Dio is way cheaper than other models in the lineup.
The new Honda Dio is powered by a 109-cc, air-cooled, four-stroke, single overhead cam (SOHC) carburettor engine that pumps out a maximum power of 8 PS at 7,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 8.91 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The mill is coupled with a V-belt automatic transmission that is easy to use. Furthermore, the scooter can be started electrically through the conventional kickstart.
Honda claims the Dio can achieve an average fuel consumption of 58.5 kmpl at 40 kmph. On a full tank, i.e., 5.3-litre in capacity, the scooter has a theoretical range of 309 km.
Speaking of suspension, the scooter gets a bottom link front shock system and a mono-shock at the rear. As for braking, its 10-inch steel wheels with tubeless tyres get drum brakes at both ends with the inclusion of the brand’s Combi-brake system.
