Efesto modified Ducati Panigale 1299 S can deliver 300 hp
KUALA LUMPUR: It is not an easy thing to improve the powerful Ducati Panigale 1299 S as it is capable of churning out a maximum power of 205 hp along with a peak torque of 143.7 Nm. However, the French Italian firm, Efesto, has made this hard task possible by adding a new electric motor.
The French Italian firm is generally “active in the design and development of turnkey electric and hybrid powertrains”. The prototype of the modified Panigale 1299 S had been introduced last year, and now it has completed the project.
Luca Morfino, the managing director of Efesto, informed that generally electric bikes are limited in range and quite heavy. The modified Panigale 1299 S is equipped with a 200Novantanove hybrid powertrain, which combines an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The modified internal combustion engine is the stock version’s 1,285cc L-twin engine. Now paring with an electric motor, the combination can push out a maximum power of 300 hp and the peak torque of 299.6 Nm.
The electric motor takes its place under the bike’s subframe. The kit is not charged using plug-in modes. Instead, it uses regenerative braking for refilling, just like a classic hybrid system. The rider can switch between the two systems parallelly. In dense traffic conditions, only using the electric motor can save fuel.
These additions have increased the bike’s weight to 194 Kg, while the stock Ducati Panigale 1299 S weighs around 179 kg.
However, Efesto has not started the testing of the modified Ducati Panigale 1299 S yet, and it is not clear that when the bike will be available with the new kit.
