Check out this modified Suzuki SV650 Street Tracker
KUALA LUMPUR: Suzuki‘s street-naked motorcycle, the SV650 has been around for almost 20 years. The bike has an iconic motor with excellent bones and architecture that is suitable for a variety of purposes. And thus, here comes another customized version called the SV650 Street Tracker, designed by Finnish Automotive designer, Antti Eloheimo. So, what’s different in this one-off SV650, let’s explore.
While the modified bike gets the same fuel tank, it is repurposed and modified to make space for the airbox to breathe. Also, it is placed a bit lower with ingenious two-tone paintwork that makes it look like a two-part design, even though it is a single unit. The available 3D-printed intakes on the tank direct airflow to the engine, along with additional channels running through the tailpiece. Antti also concealed the rear engine cylinder and the reworked subframe neatly behind a pair of aluminium side panels.
The major highlight of the custom-made Suzuki SV650 is the body curve that starts from the top of the tank and ends at the tail section. The designer considered it as the toughest as well as crucial part as the street trackers need riders to be able to scoot forward while keeping the front tyre loaded into corners, along with room to move back on the straights.
Added to the modifications is a new seat made from a slim foam pad, a small street legal LED tail light, and an aluminium belly pan with a 3D-printed grille. The latter has been designed to protect the spark plug from dust that comes from the front tyre. Antti also loaded the bike with fork protectors, forward-set footpegs, flat-track bars, pullback risers, and a quick throttle.
Well, the things that remain the same are 17-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin supermoto tyres with added wheel covers. As for suspension, the front forks are upgraded with new internals and preload adjusters while the rear shock has been borrowed from the Kawasaki ZX-10R that makes the bike a few inches lower than before.
