In the name Ducati Monster SP, the term SP stands for Sport Production. Thus clearing the motorcycles intention, i.e., a more track-focused version of the ongoing Monster sporty middleweight namked motorcycle.
Compared to the standard model, the SP version features a host of inclusions that support its track-focused character. However, there are few things that remain the same, for instance the powertrain.
Powering the new Ducati Monster SP is the same tried and tested a 937 cc liquid-cooled, V-Twin engine generating a max power of 111 hp at 9,250 rpm along with a peak torque of 93 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The drive is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed gearbox that is hydraulically actuated and benefits from a bi-directional quickshifter.

Now, the big question is, what makes the Ducati Monster SP different and more capable?
- The bike when fully fueled weighs 186kg, that’s 2 kg lighter than the regular Monster. It has been made possible with the use of superior and lighter elements in the form of a lithium-ion battery, fully adjustable Ohlins suspension (front & rear), Brembo Stylema calipers, a homologated Termignoni slip-on exhaust, and a steering damper
- The Monster SP rides on Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 tyres, the same unist graced the new Ducati Streetfighter V2 as well
- At 840 mm, the Monster SP’s seat height is 20 mm higher than the regular Monster. HOwever depending on the seat accessory option, it can be reduced to 810 mm and increased to 850 mm
- The wheelbase is shortened and it now features a sharper rake and reduced trail, thus increasing cornering clearance
- It gets a different set of riding modes compared to the standard model. It list includes - Sport, Road, and Wet
- For the SP version, Ducati has used MotoGP bike borrowed paint scheme which includes red seat and red accents on the wheels and front fender
- Bikini fairing that’s an optional extra on the Standard MOnster, comes standard here
