BMW Motorrad Malaysia launches the new R18 Transcontinental & R 18 B

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only six months ago that BMW globally unveiled the all-new R18 Transcontinental & R 18 B. And now BMW Motorrad Malaysia has introduced the two motorcycles in the local market.

The BMW R 18 range has hiked to a new height, i.e., Grand American Tourer motorcycle, via the launch of the new R18 Transcontinental & R 18 B (Bagger).

Both the Transcontinental and Bagger are based on the R 18 First Edition and Classic and are perfect for long-distance riding, all thanks to the tall windshield and larger batwing front fairing.

As per BMW Motorrad, the R18 Transcontinental comes loaded with classic American motorcycle bits, the R 18 B is a rider’s machine delivering emotional riding pleasure. Also, the latter is good for cruising and touring.

What powers the new BMW R18 Transcontinental & R 18 B?

 

The all-new R18 Transcontinental & R 18 B are powered by the Big Boxer 1,802 cc mill making a maximum power of 91 hp at 4,750 rpm along with a peak torque of 158 Nm at 3,000 rpm.

Further, taking forward the iconic R5 legacy, the heart of the chassis sits on a double-loop tube steel frame.

Also, part of the two new BMW R 18 models standard kit is Dynamic Cruise Control, however, customers can also opt for the optional Active Cruise Control (ACC). The latter calls for relaxed gliding control with the rider’s not required to adjust the speed as per the front vehicle.

The all-new BMW R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B retails for RM 198, 500, and RM 186,500, respectively.
