Blueshark provides R1 e-scooters to PNBMV for sustainable urban mobility
KUALA LUMPUR: Blueshark Malaysia, the subsidiary of Shark Gulf Technologies Group, has joined hands with PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PNBMV) to enhance sustainable urban mobility and security at Kuala Lumpur's Merdeka 118, the world's second tallest building.

During a ceremony at the Merdeka 118 tower, Blueshark Malaysia handed over 14 units of the R1 smart electric scooters to PNBMV, marking the initiation of a three-year lease agreement.
The use of Blueshark R1 smart electric scooters within the operational framework of the Merdeka 118 tower assists essential personnel, including those from departments like Car Park, Common Facilities, Base Facilities, Merdeka Utilities, and Polis Bantuan (Auxiliary Police). These scooters help these personnel perform their duties more efficiently within the tower premises.
Blueshark Ecosystem Group CEO (ASEAN), Jeff Chong, expressed excitement about the partnership with PNB Merdeka Ventures. "PNBMV and Blueshark both have shared values in sustainability and environmental responsibility,” he said.
“Blueshark’s first-to-last mile sustainable e-mobility ecosystem will enable PNBMV and its employees to reduce their carbon footprint and live healthier lives in the pursuit of their ESG goals," he added.
PNBMV chief executive officer Tengku Datuk Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud also expressed his thoughts on the collaboration with Blueshark. He highlighted that the R1 e-scooter provides emission-free transportation, supporting the company's objective of achieving climate neutrality.
"Blueshark's Vehicle & Backend Telematics will also provide valuable data for PNBMV's carbon reporting, helping us meet our green mobility goals.
"Our teams are responsible for the safety and well-being of all our employees as well as visitors from all over the world to Merdeka 118. Integrating e-mobility with Blueshark’s R1 e-motorcycles and connected ecosystem will help PNBMV’s various teams perform their duties more efficiently and sustainably," he said.
A brief overview of Blueshark electric scooters
Blueshark electric scooters are well-suited for fleet operations, urban commuting, and patrol duties as they can recharge from any standard wall socket and are offered with a full-fledged battery swap program, allowing riders to quickly and conveniently swap their battery pack with a fully charged one.
The Blueshark R1 scooters come powered by a rear hub-mounted electric motor generating 6.7 horsepower and 201 Nm of torque. Feeding the motor is a set of battery packs with a total capacity of 2,880 kW, offering a driving range of 110 km, The top speed is rated at 90 kmph.
The EVs are also equipped with Internet of Vehicles (IoV) technology that allows seamless connectivity between the scooters and backend servers through a dedicated app. This connectivity enables continuous data streaming, allowing fleet operators and users to monitor and track the scooters in real-time. Through the IoV app, users can access important vehicle information such as performance metrics, ride history, vehicle condition, and battery health.
Also part of the kit is a 10-inch full-colour HD IPS, 74 sensors, dual cameras & dual ultrasonic sensors, ArkRide Smart OS, and built-in speakers.
