All-new Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian motorcycle market seems to be on an all time high with brands launching new models one after the other. Thus, making it a true blissful time for enthusiasts and prospective buyers.

After the arrival of the 2021 KTM Duke 200 in March, we got our hands on the 2021 Honda CBR600RR and recently the much-awaited 2021 GPX Demon GR200R arrived at our shores. Now joining the troop is the all-new 2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS and we welcome it with open hearts, as the model was launched globally only three months back.

Triumph’s muscular roadster is powered by a 1,160cc liquid-cooled, 12 valve, DOHC, inline three-cylinder making a maximum power of 180 PS at 10,750 rpm along with a peak torque of 125 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed gearbox with X-ring chain.

This specific mill is enhanced for the new Speed Triple, engineers have made it 7 kg lighter and it includes a higher redline, new exhaust system and intake. Furthermore, Triumph claims the 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS delivers 17.85 kmpl of fuel economy and its CO2 figures rests at 130g/km.

Assuring a smooth and comfortable ride is its superb suspension setup that includes a Ohlins 43 mm NIX30 upside down front forks with adjustable preload, rebound, and compression damping, 120 mm travel. At the rear end it gets an Ohlins TTX36 twin tube monoshock with preload, rebound, and compression damping, 120 mm rear wheel travel. The braking duties are performed by powerful twin 320 mm floating discs and single 220 mm disc brakes.

It also benefits from ride enhancing elements like traction control, Triumph Shift Assist, selectable riding modes, cornering ABS, Metzeler Racetec RR K3 tyres, and more.

Triumph Malaysia is offering the roadster at a price of RM 99,900, excluding registration, road tax, and insurance.
