KUALA LUMPUR: Honda has revealed the upgraded version of the CBR650R at the EICMA show in Milan. For the 2024 model year, the middleweight sports bike benefits from significant updates that will make the riding experience a lot better. Let’s know all the changes in detail -

Designed to make motorcycling even more enjoyable and exciting, the Honda E-Clutch function gives the rider a choice of automatic clutch operation by simply using the shift pedal.The new Honda CBR650R features new fairing, redesigned dual LED headlights, an aggressive riding position with clip-on handlebars, and a new and compact seat. Also, parts of the kit are - a USB Type-C socket (located under the seat), trim side panels, and steel rear mudguard/number plate mount. The tail unit and tail light of the bike also exude sharper sporting energy.
Coming to the technology, the bike gains a new 5-inch full colour TFT screen that uses optical bonding for better readability in bright sunlight. It is mated to the Honda RoadSync functionality offering on-screen, turn-by-turn navigation, and other smartphone features. To enjoy this, one needs to download the free Honda RoadSync app and connect it to the bike. It can be operated via a new backlit 4-way toggle switch positioned on the left handlebar.
The 2024 Honda CBR650R continues to run on the same 649-cc, DOHC 16-valve engine, which delivers 70 kW of maximum output at 12,000 rpm and a peak torque of 63 Nm at 9,500 rpm. However, it benefits from a new E-Clutch system, which is an industry-first.
The E-Clutch is designed to make motorcycling even more enjoyable and exciting; it gives the rider a choice of automatic clutch operation by simply using the shift pedal. The system combines the brand’s dual-clutch transmission system and the benefits of a quick shifter, and provides seamless up and downshifts without the requirement of engaging the clutch lever, even when starting or stopping. The new Honda CB650R also gets this technology.

- 41 mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks
- Four-piston, radial-mount front brake callipers, and floating discs
- 120/70-ZR17 and 180/55-ZR17 front and rear tyres
The new Honda CBR650R will be offered in two colour choices - Grand Prix Red Tricolour and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic.
