Engine
Powering the new CBR250RR is a re-tuned 250cc, eight-valve, liquid-cooled, DOHC, parallel twin-cylinder engine, which now delivers a maximum output of 31 kW (up by 1 kW) at 13,000 rpm and 25 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox mated to a chain drive system.
The refined engine design boasts an increased compression ratio, optimised piston and oil ring tension, bigger inlet port throat diameter, and upgraded valve timing and lift. All these enhancements add to the power and performance, making the bike “responsive and smooth.”
The bike also features the Assist and slipper clutch for reduced clutch lever operation load and a Quick shifter for seamless gear changes without clutch or throttle operations. There is also a
Throttle-By-Wire system, which offers three riding modes - Sport+, Sport, and Comfort, These modes can be easily selected with the help of a MODE switch positioned on the left handlebar.
Suspension and braking
Another big upgrade comes in the form of the new Separate Function Fork – Big Piston (SFF-BP) inverted front suspension. This advanced system features upside-down Showa suspension with 130 mm strokes and an adjusted spring rate for stability and agility. Handling the rear suspension is a mono-shock that offers preload adjustments.
As for braking, the bike comes equipped with a single hydraulic disc on both ends. These are complemented by a two-channel ABS, providing reliable braking on various road surfaces.
“With the new CBR250RR, we aim to provide an unmatched riding experience that combines power, precision, and style,” said Mitsuharu Funase, Managing Director and CEO of Boon Siew Honda.
“It is a testament to Honda’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the supersport motorcycle segment. We are confident that the enhancements in performance and design will captivate motorcycling enthusiasts across the Malaysian market.”
