2021 Y16ZR Doxou Edition is now part of Yamaha Malaysia lineup

KUALA LUMPUR: A new model is added to Yamaha's Doxou series, the Y16ZR Doxou Edition. Third, in the series, the latest Doxou model precedes the likes of Yamaha Y15ZR Doxou Edition and Yamaha NVX155 Doxou Edition introduced in 2019.

Compared to the two previous Yamaha Doxou editions, the Y16ZR features a few different elements like a red and black exterior colour combo compared to the bronze and blue scheme used in the previous Doxou Edition models.

How much does the 2021 Yamaha Y16ZR Doxou Edition cost?

In Malaysia, the Y16ZR Doxou Edition retails for RM 11,688 making it RM 800 pricer than the regular model. Excluded from this price are registration, road tax, and insurance, however, it includes a 2-year/20,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects. Owners will also get an ownership certificate, a special series edition number plate, and a special edition visor.

Is the 2021 Yamaha Y16ZR Doxou Edition a limited edition model?

Yes, the production of the 2021 Yamaha Y16ZR Doxou Edition is limited to just 5000 units. Making the deal more special is the fact that ours is the first country in the ASEAN region to get the Y16ZR Doxou Edition.

How different is the Y16ZR Doxou Edition from the standard model?

One can easily differentiate the Y16ZR Doxou Edition from the standard model via the exterior design elements like special graphics and contrasting wheel colour scheme (blue - front & red - rear). There is no technical difference between the Doxou Edition and the regular model.

Therefore, like the regular Y16ZR, the Doxou Edition model is powered by a 155 cc, single-cylinder, SOHC engine with variable valve actuation (VVA). The unit generates a maximum power of 17.7 hp at 9,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 14.4 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed transmission unit with a slip & assist clutch.
