2021 Suzuki Burgman 200 now on sale in the US market
KUALA LUMPUR: Back in March, Suzuki rolled out an updated version of the Burgman 400 featuring a new engine and fancy electronics to meet Euro5 regulations. And, now the Japanese automaker introduces the new Burgman 200 in the US market to maintain its popularity. But unfortunately, the maxi-scooter just received a new paint scheme for 2021 and no other cosmetic or mechanical upgrades.
Joining the Burgman 200 colour options list is the new Metallic Matte Stellar Blue. The other available options are Pearl Brilliant White and Titan Black.
Besides this, the new maxi-scooter continues to feature the same styling that includes a split headlamp, wide front apron, a tall windscreen, broad handlebars, and a step-up stitched seat. The scooter tips the scale at 163 kg and carries a 10.5-litre fuel tank. At 735 mm, its seat height is fairly low, and thus comfortable for shorter riders too.
For riders’ further convenience, a massive 41-litre under-seat storage is provided with the scooter, which can accommodate two full-face helmets. What about metre panel? The 2021 Suzuki Burgman 200 continues to have a semi-digital instrument cluster with all the essential readouts like speed, tachometer, trip meter, fuel efficiency, and average speed.
Powering the 2021 Suzuki Burgman 200 is the same 200-cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled SOHC engine, While the automaker has not revealed the output numbers for the new model, we have older figures in hand that read 18 PS of maximum power. As for suspension, the scooter is fitted with a telescopic front fork and a single rear mono-shock. These are teamed up with 110/90-13 front tyre and 130/70-12 rear tyre for a smoother ride.
The braking duties are taken care of by a 240 mm disc with a 2-piston caliper up front and a 240 mm disc with a single-piston caliper at the rear. A dual-channel ABS also comes as standard.
The 2021 Suzuki Burgman 200 price in the US starts at $4,999 (approximately equal to RM 20,584). In the local market, Suzuki does not offer any maxi-scooter. However, the multiple options available in the space are the Yamaha NMax, Yamaha NVX, Honda PCX, Honda Vario, Sym Jet14 200, and Sym Jet 14.
