2021 Modenas Pulsar RS200 launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The local automaker Modenas brings the Pulsar RS200 on the Malaysian shores back in 2017 as a rebadged model of an Indian motorcycle. Now to up its game, the company gave an update to the model after four years of existence. The modifications include new colour schemes and some cosmetic tweaks on the body for a more appealing stance.

Starting with the color choices, you can now get the new Modenas Pulsar RS200 in any of the three colors - Pearl Metallic White, Pewter Grey, and matte Burnt Red. The bike features a twin projector headlamp that provides more brightness on dark roads. Contributed to the new look are white finishing on alloy wheels, carbon-fibre stickers on the front and rear fenders, and a ‘Pulsar’ lettering on the seat cover. The bike weighs 155 kg with a fuel tank measuring 13 litres.

Powering the new Modenas Pulsar RS200 is the same 199.5-cc liquid-cooled, four-valve, triple-spark DTS-i engine churning out a maximum power of 24.5 PS at 9,750 rpm and a peak torque of 18.6 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox sending power to the ground.

Beneath the flashy skin, the Pulsar RS200 chassis also remains the same with the perimeter frame. The suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic forks with an anti-friction bush on the front, and a Nitrox monoshock absorber with a canister at the rear. 

The bike rolls on 17-inch wheels wrapped with 100/80 front tyre and 130/70 rear unit. As for braking, it comes with a 300 mm disc on the front and a 230 mm disc on the rear. If this does not seem enough, don’t worry, there is also a dual-channel ABS on board.

The 2021 Modenas Pulsar 200 is priced at RM 9,990 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration).
