2021 GPX Demon GR200R Malaysian launch on April 24

KUALA LUMPUR: Thailand-based bikemaker GPX entered the Malaysian market a few years back and is now in demand in the ‘Cafe Racer’ segment. The company launched the Demon 150GR in 2020 that attracted many eyeballs because of its resemblance to the Ducati Panigale and the fairly reasonable price tag. And, now it is ready to bring a new model on our shores, which interestingly looks more like the Yamaha YZF-R1.

Yes, we are talking about the Demon GR200R that made its debut in the home market last year. The automaker has been teasing the upcoming bike on its local social media accounts for a while and has also announced its launch date, which is April 24, 2021.

Said to be a higher version of the original Demon 150GR, the GR200R’s R1-like styling is teamed up with the LED projector lights on both sides of the front cowl and 17-inch wheels. Inside the cockpit is a full LCD-TFT display telling all necessary information to the rider. It is easy to read as colorful LED lighting is used throughout.

Falling in the quarter-liter class bike segment, the Demon GR200R dimensions are:

  • Overall length - 2,020 mm
  • Wheelbase - 1,340 mm
  • Seat height - 815 mm
  • Weight - 150 kg
  • Fuel tank - 11-litre

Powering the GPX Demon GR200R is a 198-cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing a maximum output of 19 hp and a peak torque of 17.2 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed transmission system and chain final drive. The engine is wrapped in a trellis frame, similar to that of the KTM RC 200.

Taking care of its suspension at the front are non-adjustable upside-down forks and a seven-step preload-adjustable YSS mono-shock in the rear. The braking system on the front wheel uses hydraulic discs with a two-piston caliper and 276 mm disc and 220 mm at the back.

About the GPX Demon GR200R price in Malaysia, there is still no official information. However, we can take an idea from the Thai market, where it is priced at 76,500 Thai baht (RM 10,601).
