2019 Ducati Hypermotard 950 launched in Malaysia, priced at RM 75,900
KUALA LUMPUR: Ducati Malaysia has launched two bikes in the country, we have already informed you about the Panigale V4 R. Now, it’s time to talk about the 2019 Ducati Hypermotard 950 that is priced at RM 75,900. Note that the price tag excludes registration, road tax, and insurance.
The bike is now in its 3rd generation with the latest model showcasing several noticeable improvements. Ducati offers the Hypermotard in two variants - standard and SP. While the base model will be imported, the new Hypermotard SP variant will be available only on special orders and is priced at RM 117,900.
The new model is powered by the same old, tried and tested Testastretta 11 engine that earlier featured in the Hypermotard 939. However, on the Hypermotard 950, it produces 4 hp more power, resting the total output to be 114 hp at 9,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 96 Nm at 7,250 rpm. The increase in power is achieved via the use of a new exhaust cam profile, revised fuel mapping and calibration, throttle body, and redesigned pistons. The engine is paired with a hydraulic clutch along with an assist & slipper clutch that reduces effort.
The bike comes with a full suite of electronic riding aids that are controlled by a Bosch six-axis IMU (inertial measurement unit), included in the list are -
- Traction control EVO by Ducati
- Wheelie control
- ABS with Ducati Slide by Brake
- Three ride modes
- Quickshifter (added in SP version)
On the design front, the latest model is a throwback to the original Hypermotard, especially at the front with the trellis frame and infamous beak in front. In the tail section, the bike now features twin exhaust pipes underneath the seat. The rider seat and fuel tank are now narrower making it easier to get your feet down even with 870 mm of seat height. The pillion grab handle is also now wider than before.
The cockpit now gets TFT-LCD instrument panel that resembles the unit seen in the Panigale V4. Exclusive to the SP trim are features like 48 mm diameter Ohlins front forks, fully-adjustable Ohlins monoshock at the rear, Pirelli Diablo SuperCorsa SP V3 tyres, and Marchesini forged aluminium alloy wheels.
