The last week of January 2024 was pretty interesting for both local and international auto markets. For instance, we not only got arrival confirmation for several cars like the GAC Aion Y plus and GAC GS3 EMZOOM. But Malaysia also welcomed cars like the 2024 Mazda CX-5, Rolls Royce Phantom Series II, and 2024 Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini. The international auto market saw the arrival of the Zontes E125 maxi-scooter, the all-new Audi Q7, and the all-new 2025 Mazda CX-70.

Three GAC SUVs coming soon to Malaysia

Chinese automaker GAC Motor is set to shake up the local SUV landscape. The brand has just previewed not only one but three SUVs that are earmarked to launch in the local market this year. The list includes - ICE-powered B-segment SUV GS3 Emzoom, ICE-powered C-segment SUV Emkoo, and C-segment SUV Aion Y Plus.

GAC GS3 EMZOOM open for booking

 

Chinese compact SUV, GAC GS3 EMZOOM is now open for booking in Malaysia. Interested buyers are required to pay a booking fee of RM 1,000. The car is offered in two variants - Exclusive and Premium-R. Powering it is a 1.5T GDI engine, producing 177PS at 5500 rpm and 270 Nm at 1,400 rpm.

Price confirmed for all-new 2024 BMW X5

The all-new BMW X5 was introduced in Malaysia in earlier Jan, however back then prices were kept under wraps. But recently BMW announced the SUV's price tag which reads RM 528,100 (including a 5-year extended warranty and service package). The locally-assembled xDrive50e M Sport is a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine making a maximum power of 313 PS and a peak torque of 450 Nm. Also, part of the setup is an electric motor making 197 PS and 280 Nm. Together the setup generates 489 PS and 700 Nm.

2024 Mazda CX-5 facelift arrives in Malaysia

The all-new Mazda CX-5 was launched in Malaysia recently with its price ranging from RM 144,469 - to RM 188,760. The car is offered in five trim options namely 2.0G 2WD Mid, 2.0G 2WD High, 2.5G 2WD High, 2.2D 2WD High, and 2.5G AWD High. In addition to all the good features, one of the biggest wins for the car is safety as it snagged the IIHS 2023 TOP SAFETY PICK.

New color options for Modenas Kawasaki Z900 and Ninja ZX25R SE

Modenas Bikes Malaysia has introduced fresh color schemes and new graphics for the Kawasaki Z900 and Ninja ZX25R SE. The new outfits elevate the bikes' styling and appeal to a whole new level.

2024 Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini arrives in Malaysia

The special-edition Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini has made its way to the Malaysian market. As the name suggests, this stunning Ducati is inspired by a Lamborghini Huracán STO (Super Trofeo Omologata). Priced at RM 460,900 in Malaysia, the beast is powered by a 1,103-cc Desmosedici Stradale engine delivering a maximum power of 208 hp at 13,000 rpm and a peak torque of 123 Nm.

Rolls Royce Phantom Series II launched in Malaysia

The Rolls Royce Phantom Series II has finally rolled into Malaysia with an official price tag of RM 2.5 Million. Powering the premium beauty is a 6.75-liter V12 engine delivering a staggering 563 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. Paired with the unit is an 8-speed automatic transmission, ensuring a smooth and responsive driving experience.

Two new Peugeot EVs coming soon

In the year 2024, the French automaker, Peugeot announced the introduction of two new EVs - the e-408 and e-5008. Both the EVs will underpin the STLA Medium platform that utilizes a 400-volt electric architecture and can accommodate a battery of up to 98 kWh. The platform will provide a WLTP-claimed best-in-class range exceeding 700 km. With the introduction of the new EVs, the company's EV range will comprise a total of nine passenger vehicles and three light commercial vehicles.

Zontes E125 maxi-scooter introduced in Europe

The global maxi-scooter segment recently welcomed a new entrant, the Zontes E125. It is an entry-level scooter targeting new riders looking for a reliable urban transport solution. Priced at EUR 3,887, the E125 is powered by a 125-cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine pumping out a maximum power of 14.6 hp.

All-new Audi Q7 introduced

Audi has introduced the second-gen Q7 in Europe with the upgraded model featuring better design, advanced features, and much more. Pricing for the new Q7 ranges from EUR 79,300 (approx RM 405,702) to EUR 112,000 (approx RM 572,720). The SUV is available in three engine options - 3.0-litre turbo-diesel, 3.0-litre V6 turbo-petrol, and 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol.

2024 BMW 4 Series refreshed for 2024

BMW has given its 4 Series lineup a mid-cycle refresh. The car now showcases significant styling and technological updates. Some of the new key highlights include - Adaptive LED Headlights with non-dazzling matrix high beams, new Laserlight rear lights, three new 19-inch light-alloy wheel designs, an M Sport package, new BMW Curved Display and BMW iDrive with QuickSelect system, and much more.

All-new 2025 Mazda CX-70 introduced

The all-new Mazda CX-70 is finally out in the international auto market. The new five-seater SUV is based on the automaker's large platform and shares its wide-body design language with the 7-seater CX-90. The car is powered by a 3.3-litre inline-six turbocharged engine producing 280 hp and 450 Nm of torque in the standard form and 340 hp and 500 Nm in the higher version.

Toyota is the world’s top-selling auto brand

In the year 2023, Toyota Motor Corporation sold a total of 10.3 million vehicles, thus making it the world’s top car seller. As for the breakdown, Toyota and Lexus respectively sold 9.48 million and 824,000 units. In Malaysia, UMW Toyota sold 108,107 units making the brand a top seller here as well.

5-door Suzuki Jimny launched in the Philippines

After making its global debut in 2023, the 5-door Jimny entered the Philippines market. The car is offered in three trim levels namely the GL MT, GLX AT Monotone, and GLX AT Two-tone. The car’s price ranges from P1.558 million (approx RM 130,617) and P1.708 million (approx RM 143,192). Powering the 5-door Jimny is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 105 PS of maximum power and 130 Nm of peak torque.
