Volvo XC90 to Get Polestar Performance Upgrades
Kuala Lumpur: The Swedish automaker's performance division has announced some upgrades for this seven-seater SUV. As a result, Volvo XC90 would be getting a full-fat Polestar variant which would make the car more dynamic and responsive to drive. The enhancements which are offered have been announced earlier as well for Volvo's Drive-E models. Unlike focusing on output or performance figures, it centres principally around throttle response and the precision and shifting speed of transmission.
Under the hood, the 2.0-litre Drive-E engine would get turbocharger and supercharger along with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This robust engine would be able to churn out a maximum power of 350 hp as well. Other performance and economy figures are yet to be revealed, but they shouldn't change much. Niels Moller, COO of Polestar, the Volvo Cars Performance Brand said, “The new XC90 is by far the most advanced car from Volvo in terms of chassis and drivetrain, making it a thrill for us to work with. The Polestar optimisation takes the dynamics and responsiveness of the XC90 another step forward from an already high base level.”. Further, the automaker claims that mid-range responsiveness has significantly improved as the power band is more even across the rev-range.
Towards the exterior, it gets an all new face and has become more angular and masculine. The upgrade kit can be fitted to all other Volvo models except the V70, XC70 and S80, and it would take 30 minutes to install the kit.
