Volvo Malaysia issues recall over a potential brake software malfunction

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, that’s true. Volvo Cars Malaysia has issued a recall involving 545 cars which is a part of a global recall by the brand across several countries which extends to 106,691 vehicles.

The issue? The brand has been recalling the concerned cars over a potential software issue within the brake control module.

The list of affected Volvo models include 2023 model-year versions of the following -

• XC40
• XC60
• XC90
• C40
• S60
• V60
• S90

The driver of an affected Volvo will be warned about the issue through the driver information module (DIM). Also, affected cars might experience a stiff brake pedal along with a compromised electronic braking support function. However, the braking capabilities of the car will remain intact via the brake pedal.

The good news is there have been no injuries or accidents reported related to the issue and the recent recall by Volvo is more of a precautionary measure by the automaker.

Volvo will send a notification to the owners of the affected car who will then be required to send their car to the authorized service center to rectify the issue.
