KUALA LUMPUR: After the XC40 Recharge, C40 Recharge, and EX90, Volvo is set to pull the wraps off its fourth pure electric vehicle, the EX30. The official global debut of the EV will be held on June 7, 2023, in the US.

The Volvo EX30 will come equipped with several advanced safety features, including a door opening alert, driver alert system, hands-on detection system and intersection auto brake.Ahead of the premiere, the automaker which is known for making the safest cars, talks about the safety systems that will be available on the upcoming model. Volvo says, “We're a leader in safety, always have been and always will be, and we will not lower our own bar for safety in the EX30 – it looks after both you and others in hectic urban environments."
The EV will come equipped with several advanced safety features, including
- Door opening alert - It is designed to provide visual and audio cues to passengers, warning them when they are about to open the door in the presence of a passing cyclist or other road users
- Driver alert system: It used a dedicated sensor positioned behind the steering wheel to detect eye and facial movements of the driver approximately 13 times per second and provides warnings accordingly
- Hands-on detection system: This sensor is positioned on the steering wheel that runs on powerful algorithms to help detect driver distraction or drowsiness
- Intersection auto brake: It aims to prevent accidents at intersections by bringing the vehicle to a complete stop in case another vehicle unexpectedly crosses its path ahead
Volvo has also released the upcoming EX30 teaser, which reveals a few design elements. According to that, the EV will feature a full-width front light bar connected with sleek LED headlights, a chiselled bonnet, and vertically positioned tail lights. Inside, the car is likely to get a digital instrument cluster, a big touchscreen infotainment unit, auto climate control, and several other creature comforts.
After launch, the Volvo EX30 will rival the likes of the Kia EV6, Mercedes-Benz EQA, and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
