Volvo EM90 electric MPV leaked ahead of next month debut
KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo is set to expand its EV lineup with the first-ever electric MPV, the EM90, scheduled to debut on November 12, 2023. Well, ahead of the global premiere, the new Volvo MPV is in front of us without any drapes.

The Volvo EM90 is a twin of the Zeekr 009 as the two vehicles share the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform and several design elements. The MPV is 5206 mm long, 2024 mm wide, and 1859 mm tall.The images of the upcoming Volvo EM90 along with its preliminary specifications were published on China's MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) website. Apparently, the EV will first launch in China and is likely to enter into other markets later.
As reported earlier, the Volvo EM90 is a twin of the Zeekr 009 as the two vehicles share several design elements. However, the Volvo MPV confirms its unique identity with a different front grille, headlights, tail lights, wheels, and of course badging.
The EM90 features an enclosed grille mated to T-shaped headlights and segmented T-shaped daytime running lights. The rear is fitted with a flat and upright boot lid and T-shaped tail lamps. Among the other key exterior highlights are automatic sliding rear doors, panoramic sunroof, door-mounted side view mirrors, and dual-tone alloy wheels.
The upcoming Volvo EM90 will also come outfitted with the brand's illuminated logo, making it the first Volvo car to feature this eye-catching design element.
Dimensionally, the Volvo EM90 is 5206 mm long, 2024 mm wide, and 1859 mm tall. The wheelbase is measured at 3205 mm. The MPV tips the scales at 2,763 kilograms.
As far as the interior is concerned, no leaked images are available. However, as per the official teaser, we can expect individual chairs in the second row.
The Volvo EM90 underpins the same Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform as the Zeekr 009. That means it is highly likely that it will be powered by a dual-motor AWD setup that cranks out a maximum power of 543 PS and a peak torque of 686 Nm. The battery options may include - 116 kWh and 140 kWh units offering a maximum driving range of up to 822 km (on the CLTC cycle).
