Volvo Car Malaysia’s monthly update: new ‘Online Sales’ platform, 75% EV sales by 2025 & EX90 coming soon
KUALA LUMPUR: It was yesterday that Volvo Car Malaysia launched the all-new C40 Recharge Pure Electric and with it, the automaker made several big and notable announcements. One of which was its Pure Electric EVs by 2025 will account for 75% of its total sales in the country.

Now, talking about Malaysia specifically, Volvo’s electrification efforts involve the local assembly of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric and C40 Recharge Pure Electric. The two CKD models are not only sold locally but also exported to other ASEAN countries.
Volvo Car Malaysia Managing Director, Charles Frump, said that Volvo aims to become the ‘number one eLuxury car brand’ in the country. And so it will slowly phase out internal combustion engine-powered vehicles from the lineup.
Lining up with the company’s efforts to go fully electric in the future, is its future range expansion plans. At the launch of the new C40 Recharge was teased the all-new Volvo EX90 - the ‘next’ Volvo EV scheduled for the Malaysian market. Though nothing is confirmed at the moment but with Volvo’s one EV per year commitment, the EX90 is expected to arrive next year!

Another major announcement made during the C40’s launch was the commencement of a new e-commerce platform by Volvo Car Malaysia, called Online Sales. The said platform is the first of its kind ‘Direct To Customer’ online sales initiative.
“Our customers’ journey to owning a Volvo will be seamless from hereon, and one that is in line with our hassle-free price. Together with our authorized dealers, the ‘Online Sales’ platform will enhance the buying experience of every customer,” said Frump.
