Volkswagen unveiled new Polo GTI, check full details
KUALA LUMPUR: It was only a while back that Volkswagen launched the updated Polo hatch. And now the German automaker has completed the range by introducing the range-topping Polo GTI model. The revisions are not only limited to a new face but extend all the way to several high-tech, fancy tech features.
So, let’s check out what all the new Polo GTI has to offer, starting with the exterior design and styling.
The new Polo GTI like the recently launched regular Polo benefits from new headlamps with IQ. Light matrix units and new taillights. Also, part of the styling kit is an illuminated front grille, ‘animated brake light’, and dynamic turn signals.
However, to make it more aggressive and GTI-tag ready, the range-topping model gets several GTI specific inclusions. Included in the list is -
- Red trim on the grille and brake calipers
- Aggressive front & rear bumpers
- GTI badging all-around
- 18-inch alloy wheels
On the inside, the new Polo GTI makes sure to confirm its GTI-DNA in one go. How? Well, the hatch sports the iconic GTI tartan fabric seats, and glossy red finish dashboard, door trim and centre tunnel.
As mentioned earlier, the Polo GTI is equipped with attractive tech features which includes the new VW infotainment system, including a high-resolution 8.0-inch touchscreen display and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay comes standard. Also, an upgraded 9.2-inch ‘Discover Pro’ infotainment system is available as an optional feature.
Furthermore, it is the first Polo GTI to benefit from VW’s IQ.Drive advanced driver assistance suite of semi-autonomous driving features like lane departure assist and adaptive cruise control.
Coming to its powertrain configuration, the Polo GTI continues to draw power from the tried and tested 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that makes 207 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. With the given mill and its capability, the performance hatch can touch the 100 kmph mark in 6.5 seconds and attain a top speed of 240 kmph.
Other bits contributing to the drive are - 15 mm lowered suspension, VW’s XDS torque vectoring system, and optional ‘Sport Select’ adaptive suspension.
