Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace line-up launched in Malaysia, price starts from RM 164,430
KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, an offensive SUV set to shake the local SUV segment, has arrived in the country. The 7-seater version of the standard Tiguan gets plenty of hi-tech creature comforts and lots of room in the back. Available in two variants - Tiguan Allspace Highline 1.4TSI and the Tiguan Allspace R-Line 2.0TSI, the model is locally assembled at the brand’s Pekan, Pahang plant.
Dimensionally, the new Tiguan Allspace is 215 mm longer than the 5-seater Tiguan, making the total length to 4,701 mm, and its wheelbase of 2,787 mm is also 106 mm longer. Although, one cannot spot the added length as the SUV is designed with longer rear doors and raised bonnet section for achieving the increased proportions.
With an extended wheelbase, the Tiguan Allspace comes with bespoke front, and rear ends. The exterior design showcases a significantly higher bonnet position along with sharper and precise lines that run across the bonnet and front bumper and give the SUV a meaner stance.
The assertive-looking SUV offers multiple seat configurations to prospective customers. The available boot space is
- 5+2 seats in place - 230 litres
- 5 seats in place - 700 litres
- 2 seats in place - 1,775 litres
Taking forward the legacy of R-Line, the Tiguan Allspace R-Line poses an aggressive stance with 19-inch Sebring alloy wheels and commands attention on-and-off- the road. Under the bonnet, it houses a 2.0-litre TSI engine generating 220 PS and 350 Nm, the highest power and torque numbers in its class. The capabilities of the engine are further enhanced with a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. In contrast, Allspace Highline is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI engine producing 150 PS and 250 Nm.
Inside the cabin, the SUV comes with hi-tech features like a digital cockpit, 9.2-inch Discover Pro infotainment system, a Climatronic three-zone air-con, electronic parking brake keyless entry with push start, and cruise control.
“The SUV segment in Malaysia has grown by 65% and we believe it will continue to drive and lead the auto market. With the addition of the two Tiguan Allspace variants, Volkswagen will be able to cater to different SUV seekers by offering them a German engineered seven-seater option, with performance that is unrivalled,” says Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM.
Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace price starts at RM 164,430, and its bookings are now open at all authorized Volkswagen dealerships nationwide.
