Powertrain
The upcoming Tiguan will be offered in a variety of engine options including conventional (petrol & diesel) and unconventional (plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid with petrol unit).
Out of the four options, the pure electric PHEV mill is said to offer a pure electric range which will be 100 km more compared to the older model. The enhanced range is attributed to the car’s new MQB evo platform which calls for a bigger battery along with a new & more efficient e-motor.
Platform & Dimensions
As mentioned earlier, the 2023 Tiguan will utilize the new MQB evo platform that comes with an electronically-controlled adaptive suspension giving the SUV “ the best active chassis control” in the segment.
As for dimensions nothing much has changed with length increased by 3 cm while the rest (width, height, and wheelbase) remain the same. However, one major improvement comes in the form of enhanced boot space which has now grown by 33 liters (648 liters).
Design
The upcoming 2023 VW Tiguan is definitely a striking-looking car with a sporty appeal. Part of its exterior feature kit is - a larger ID.4-inspired headlights with optional IQ. Light HD matrix illumination, a slim light bar across the front fascia, and a lower grille reminiscent of the Volkswagen Up!
On the inside, the upcoming SUV will come equipped with a new infotainment system, a rotary dial on the center console, high-quality materials all around, upgraded seats, and improved noise insulation.
Mechanical bits
The upcoming Tiguan also gets a vehicle dynamics manager (inherited from the current Golf GTI) which controls the following functions - the electronic differential locks (XDS), the DCC Pro adaptive absorbers, wheel-specific braking, and shock absorber hardness control. Thus, improving the SUVs handling by manifold which VW says is now “more neutral, stable, agile, and precise”.
With the soon arrival of the new Tiguan, we expect the SUV to contribute more towards the company’s sales.
