Upcoming Genesis GV60 EV gets new Face Connect feature
KUALA LUMPUR: Cars these days are becoming more and more advanced, the technological advancements are going over the roof with inclusions like autonomous driving, massive screens taking over the entire dashboard, and much more. Now, Genesis has a new one for its GV60 EV SUV.

Called the Face Connect feature, it enables the driver to unlock the car with just his/her face. Exciting, isn't it?
Wanna know how to work? Well, the Face Connect feature utilises a Near Infra-Red camera that's located on the driver-side B-pillar. It recognises the driver's face at all given lighting conditions and unlocks the door.
The said feature will come in handy for outdoor adventure enthusiasts. As of now, they need not worry about the car keys getting misplaced or lost at one of their adventure hikes or swims. They can just leave the car keys inside the cabin and lock-unlock the car via their face. Easy!
The said system can register as many as two faces along with their individual profiles. Next, depending on the face, the EV can automatically adjust the setting like the position of the steering & driver's seat, infotainment system & head-up display settings.
While the Face Connect feature only locks and unlocks the car, the driver will still be required to start the car via his fingertips. Also, the existing PIN code access for unlocking the Valet Mode and in-vehicle payments is replaced by a fingerprint scanner.
The upcoming GV60 will also benefit from significantly expanded over-the-air software update capabilities. So, now the owner can modify or upgrade the EV without having to visit the service centre.
Though these new features are currently limited to the Genesis GV60, the automakers assure that they will be gradually introduced in other models as well.
