UMW Toyota to bring exciting sales promos in coming months
KUALA LUMPUR: After nearly three months of difficult market conditions, car companies in Malaysia are getting back to their normal business activities. But as we can see the impact of the showroom closure on the new vehicle bookings and sales, the brands are required to revise their annual sales targets. Perodua and Proton have already revised their numbers and now it is UMW Toyota reviewing the 2021 Toyota and Lexus sales.
According to the company’s official press release, the total number of Toyota and Lexus units sold in August was 2,524 units, which is 56% lower than August 2020. However, if we compare the total units of the two brands sold in the first eight months of 2020 with the first eight months of 2021, the ongoing year has an edge over the previous. In numbers, the company sold 38,085 Toyota and Lexus cars in 2021 and 31,734 in 2020.
The credit of better sales volume goes to the exemption of SST (Sales & Service Tax) that started last year and resulted in a good sales momentum.
Now, for the remaining months of the year, the company is looking forward to the return to normalcy by rolling out some sales promos.
“We will be having sales promotions in the coming months so if you are shopping for a new vehicle, look out for them as you will get great deals and of course, save on sales tax until the end of the year,” he said. “Our loyal customers are also not forgotten and we will soon announce a new program that will reward them for their loyalty to the brand over more than five decades,” says Ravindran. K, President, UMW Toyota Motor.
Toyota September Promos are:
- Lowest installment for the Toyota Yaris from RM 493 a month with EZ Beli
- Cash rebate of up to RM 10,000 on the Toyota RAV4
- Sales tax exemption on all the models until the end of 2021
As for the safety of the customers, Mr. Ravindran gave assurance that all sales and service outlets are following the SOPs specified by the Health Ministry. Visitors are required to register themselves using MySejahtera app and need to undergo temperature scans at the time of visit. Wearing facemasks at all times is mandatory for employees as well as staff.
Besides the sales promos and strict safety protocols, the brand also stated the on-time delivery of cars as it has resumed production activities at the two assembly plants in Selangor.
The company’s Deputy Chairman Akio Takeyama said, “We thank our loyal customers for their patience, support, and understanding. Now that activities can resume, we hope they will ensure that their vehicles continue to have maintenance service carried out.”
