KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) recently concluded the third edition of the Toyota START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE Outrun at Dataran Merdeka, drawing over 6,000 participants and raising RM200,000 for the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). The event, part of Toyota's global Start Your Impossible (SYI) campaign, highlights the growing support for this annual charity run.

The SYI campaign was established to mark Toyota's transition to a mobility company and its partnership with the International Olympic and Paralympic Committees. This initiative promotes an inclusive and innovative mobility culture. UMWT's annual Toyota Outrun aligns with these goals, reinforcing the company's commitment to social responsibility and leadership in mobility solutions.

Apart from promoting physical activity, it fosters social responsibility and empowers individuals to use mobility for positive change. This event inspires participants to challenge their limits and support a meaningful cause." said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMWT.

The Toyota START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE Outrun 2024 brought together a diverse group of participants, including over 200 international runners. The event featured a 10KM race with an RM50,000 prize pool and a 5KM Fun Run, catering to participants of all ages and skill levels. The substantial prize money and inclusive categories attracted both competitive runners and casual participants.

Datuk Ravindran K. highlighted the impact of the funds raised: “We hope that the proceeds from the event will significantly bolster NCSM's initiatives, including Community Cancer and Health Screening programs, the transformative Jejak Kanser, and Vaccination Drives. Additionally, these funds will ensure daily transportation for patients residing in Children and Adult’s Homes, providing them with essential access to medical care.”

Since its inception in 2019, the Toyota Outrun has grown in participation and funds raised, becoming a key part of Toyota's commitment to promoting mobility and supporting charitable causes in Malaysia. The first event, with Paralympian Abdul Latif as the ambassador, raised RM151,000. UMWT plans to expand future events to include half and full marathons, aiming to make it a major running event in the country.
