UMW Toyota launches the all-new GR Supra MT

KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Malaysia launched not only one, not two, but a total of 5 new GR models at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend. One of which is the all-new GR Supra with manual transmission. The stick shift trim joins the already available eight-speed auto version which means two GR Supra variants are now offered in the local market.

The 2023 Toyota GR Supra price list is as follows -

GR Supra A/T	RM 655,000

The  GR Supra manual variant is equipped with the same 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six found on the automatic model. The said mill generates a maximum power of 388 PS from 5,800 to 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm. 

Here, the power is transferred to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission, enabling the car to run from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds. The automatic trim is marginally faster with a 0 -100 kmph acceleration time of 4.1 seconds. However, in terms of top speed, both models clock the same figure of 250 kmph.

In terms of features, the GR Supra MT is almost identical to the Supra AT with a few differences, which include - 

• A revised central console to accommodate the shift lever which features a GR logo
• Non-availability of steering wheel paddle shifters
• In place of the adaptive cruise control with stop-&-go function found on the automatic car, the manual trim gets a normal cruise control
• A retuned suspension with improved anti-roll bar bushes for sharper handling and performance
• New 19-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in 255/35 front and 275/35 rear tyres 

Continuing bits include an 8.8-inch centre touchscreen, a head-up display, dual-zone climate control, 8-way power-adjustable seats, black leather upholstery, JBL surround sound system, electronic parking brake, reverse camera, seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and adaptive high beam.

UMW Toyota offers the 2023 Supra in eight exterior shades - Prominence Red, Lighting Yellow, Black Metallic, Dawn Blue Metallic, White Metallic, Volcanic Ash Grey Metallic, Matte Avalanche White Metallic and Matte Storm Grey Metallic.
