UMW Toyota has delivered 70,872 vehicles so far in 2022
KUALA LUMPUR: After Proton and Perodua, UMW Toyota has also announced the car registrations it made in September this year. The non-national automaker managed to sell a total of 9,233 vehicles during the period, including 9,098 Toyota and 135 Lexus units. Compared to the previous month, the combined sales figure shows a positive growth of 1.56%.

UMW Toyota delivered a total of 70,872 units between January and September this year with a 54% hike over the same period last year.With that, the year-to-date Toyota sales in Malaysia have crossed the 70k mark and stood at 70,872, which represents a whopping 54% hike over the same period in 2021. However, last year the sales were impacted by the nationwide lockdown.
On achieving positive sales growth, Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor said, "At UMW Toyota Motor, we are humbled by the positive support received from our customers and are even more committed to going the 'Extra Mile' to intensify production and ensure timely delivery to new car owners.”
While the company did not talk about the model-wise contribution of the sales numbers, it introduced the new and improved Toyota Harrier. UMW Toyota retails the new model for RM 274,000 (on-the-road without Insurance) i.e. almost RM 15k dearer than the predecessor. What all the new Harrier brings to the table, read here.
“We are also delighted to showcase the new improvements made to the Toyota Harrier 2.0L Luxury 2022 Improvement (IMP) and hope this update gives drivers an exceptional experience every time they get behind the wheel because we understand that it's all about the drive," added Ravindran K.
Last month, the brand’s IMV (International Multi-Purpose Vehicles) range comprising three ladder frame-based models - Fortuner, Hilux, and Innova benefited from small creature comfort improvements.
Next on the Toyota upcoming cars list is surely the most-awaited Veloz which is said to be the sister model of the new Alza. The bookings for the MPV were opened back in June 2022 and more than 5,200 reservations have been made so far.
According to the market reports, the company will be launching the Veloz on October 18, 2022, however, no official confirmation has yet been received on the same.
