UMW Toyota 2022 sales, upcoming hybrid model, new Agency Retail Model, and more

KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota has also released its sales results for the year 2022 along with some major announcements for 2023. First thing first, the Japanese automaker sold a total of 101,035 vehicles last year, which includes 100,042 Toyota and 993 Lexus units. This represents a 40% increase over the previous year, making Toyota the top-selling non-national car brand in Malaysia.

“We are delighted to have been able to put smiles and deliver happiness to so many of our customers across the nation, and thank each and every one of them for their support,” said UMW Toyota Motor President, Ravindran K.

“I also wish to express our appreciation to all our staff, dealers, and business partners who overcame a challenging year. Together, we will continue to keep our customers happy and ensure that quality and service will always remain at the highest levels,” he added.

The top-performing Toyota models of 2022 are - 

• Hilux dominated the pickup category with 27,198 units
• Corolla Cross did well in the C-Segment SUV with a total sales of 17,208 units 
• Fortuner performed well in Light Duty Wagon segment with 3,432 units
• Hiace One Ton Van held strong in the One Ton Van category with 390 units

Toyota targets for 2023

• While stressing the HEV technology as a significant move towards achieving carbon neutrality, the brand is ready to add a second HEV in its lineup, the first being the Corolla Cross Hybrid launched in early 2022

• This year, the automaker will also continue to maintain driving fun with its long-running activities undertaken by GAZOO Racing Malaysia
• More exciting GR models are also on the way with exclusive GR Garages adding new offerings of parts and merchandise
• UMW Toyota will also launch a new Agency Retail Model in 2023 with customer-centric goals to deliver maximum satisfaction. Under the new model, the customers will enjoy a new sales process through premier agents offering absolute trust and confidence through fair and transparent pricing. It will be available at selected dealerships for specific Toyota and Lexus models beginning 2023
• Further, the brand assures an amazing ownership experience in 2023 with the ‘Extra Mile’ efforts offering various services such as Toyota Financial Packages, Toyota Insurance Package, Toyota Service Savers, Toyota Loyal-T, Toyota 24 Seven roadside assistance, Toyota Care Place, Toyota MaxCheck and Toyota genuine parts
