Toyota releases A90 Supra’s new teaser video
KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota has released a teaser video of its reborn car Supra just a few days ahead of its official debut at the North American International Auto Show 2019. The short video is about the A90 Supra’s straight-six 3-litre engine’s sound while the car is cruising through the circuit of the Fuji Speedway motorsport track.
The teaser video doesn’t reveal much details about the design. However, the previously leaked images have already revealed the design of both the front and back of the car.
After being disappeared from its home market in 2002, the A90 Supra is making a return after a hiatus of 16 years. Reportedly, the reborn car is the product of the collaboration between BMW and Toyota, announced in 2012. Hence, it will share unique similarities to its India-bound partner BMW Z4.
Back in December, two leaked images revealed the front and rear design of the car. Furthermore, the leaks were also helpful to confirm that the Supra is based on Toyota’s FT-1 concept. The fifth-generation model gets almost all the design aspects of the FT-1.
At the rear, it will be provided with a ducktail-type integrated rear spoiler along with two exhaust pipes. It also comes with L-shaped LED backlights and a badge of ‘Supra’ on the rear. The front panel will get stylish headlamps and the bonnet and grille are punctured with multiple cooling vents, which will provide air to the engine, radiators and brakes.
Under the bonnet, the A90 will get power from a combination of four and six-cylinder engines. The straight-six bigger 3-litre and straight-four 2-litre turbocharged engines, which will also power its partner BMW Z4, churn out powers of 265 PS and 340 PS, respectively. The engines will be connected with an eight-speed gear automatic transmission. Also, the Supra might be offered with a manual gearbox in particular regions.
