Toyota Raize brochure and images leaked ahead of November debut
KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota is getting ready to introduce its Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA)-based model, Raize in Japan on November 5th. Ahead of the planned debut, brochure and images of the car have been leaked. From which a few technical specs and Raize styling packages came to light.
Prior to this, at the ongoing 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, Daihatsu, the Toyota-subordinate brand has revealed a new compact SUV, named Rocky. Rocky is a Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA)-based car, and it seems the upcoming sub-compact SUV, Raize will be considered as its Toyota sibling in the line-up.
According to the leaked brochure, Toyota Raize measures 1,625 mm in height, 3,995 mm in length, and 1,695 mm in width. The wheelbase measures 2,525 mm. Apart from these dimensions, some of the technical specifications are also revealed. Reportedly, it is powered by a three-cylinder turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine that churns out a maximum power of 98 hp and a peak torque of 138 Nm. The power will be sent to the front wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox. Reports suggest, there will also be a 4WD version of the car.
As per the leaked images, there are several styling packages of the car. Toyota will also offer Modellista and TRD options for the users who want a more aggressive look of Raize. Reports also suggest it can be easily differentiated from Rocky by its front look. There is a trapezoidal lower intake, which is enclosed by angular fog lamp enclosures on both sides. The enclosures also house fog lamps, parking sensors, and horizontal LED light strips. Above the grille, there is a small, body-colored trim piece that features Toyota badge and headlamps that look shape-wise similar to those on Rocky.
The side-look of Rocky and Raize comes as almost identical. Both the cars have given a two-tone paint job, black-colored cladding, and floating roof. Expectedly, Raize will feature wraparound taillights, similar to Daihatsu’s model. The taillights will be merged by a thick chrome bar. Inside the car, there may be changes, including Toyota’s own addition, or it will be the same as Rocky.
