Toyota Prius 2016 design inspired by Lady Gaga

Kuala Lumpur: The fourth-generation Toyota Prius is one of the most renowned hybrid cars in the world today. To this, its efficient fuel economy raised standard of the vehicle in terms of demand even more. Now, it has received upgrades to its exterior design inspired by Lady Gaga. Yes, this is true!

Toyota Prius chief design, Shunsaku Kodama said over this, “Earlier blueprints were overruled as too “soft and organic” by the chief designer’s boss. In that, the mission was laid out: to give the Prius more emotion, to make it sexy whilst maintaining its eco-DNA. As a concept, we were thinking Lady Gaga. We wanted to be more extreme in our design.”

Tracking down Toyota Prius's initial years of launch, the hybrid car started its journey back in 1997. But, on an average there were negligible changes reprimanded to Toyota Prius features (exterior and interior). So, Kodama thought of bringing some futuristic modifications to the Prius 2016 design. Hence, Lady Gaga became the source of inspiration for this Toyota hybrid vehicle.

Taking this suggestion of Kodama into process, there were two design templates finalised for this Toyota hybrid vehicle. One was more organic, human feel, while the other was a futuristic implementation of design idea. But, this wasn't the end of the story neither the final product!

During the final stages of the blueprints, Mitsuhisa Kato, executive vice president however, decided to “correct” the design course of Kodama’s human styling for the Prius, stating that it was “best to err on techy.”

There it was decided a fresh look of Toyota Prius Hybrid – which is more sharp, revamped headlights, edging rear lamps and rear spoiler. Another point of consideration was Prius's aerodynamics, to which the design engineer worked very well and brought a better solution to the fallacy.

Other practical elements were in improving the aerodynamic coefficient of drag from 0.25 to 0.24, and in improving occupancy room in the slightly larger midsized hybrid.

Furthermore, the design team wanted to keep the triangular silhouette of the Prius, but at the same time the high point of the roof needed to be brought forward as far as it possibly could to reduce drag. “The hardest issue was trying to keep the triangular silhouette,” Kodama said, but clever engineering helped with the packaging.

After so many discussions and meetings held over the design development of Toyota Prius 2016, a solution was brought forward by the engineers. The hood is lower and the distinctive roof peak has been moved forward. Bold character lines run along the side from the front fenders, one just above the sill that sweeps up towards the rear fender, while the upper crease morphs into the rear spoiler, which has been lowered.

The use of new standard LED headlamps minimizes the Prius’ front fascia and, at the same time, provides an arresting lighting display which helps define the vehicle’s character. The unique and striking rear combination lamps express the distinctive lines of the Prius from the rear spoiler to the trailing edges of the sides.

Toyota Prius features, especially the interiors adopt advanced technology complemented by more functional, fun and high visual impacts. The wrap-around dash design, form-hugging seats, ease of controls and improved visibility put the driver in complete control.

As the first global product of this activity, the new Prius has received an entirely new Toyota platform. This has resulted in improved handling, safety and heightened driving enjoyment. Nearly every Toyota Prius feature has been improved in surprising and significant ways. Unfortunately, we have less information about the Toyota Prius specifications, including powertrain or fuel economy. However, Toyota did mention that an even more exciting Eco version will be unveiled sometime in the near future and will achieve an even greater improvement than this new Toyota Prius.
