Toyota Pixis Mega Arrives with Class-leading Height
KUALA LUMPUR: The new kei car from Toyota named Pixis Mega has been unveiled, which has its USP on two main points that are spacious interior and driver visibility. The Pixis Mega has a class-leading cabin height of 1,455 mm with a capacity to accommodate four members easily. Apart from this, the car has door of height 1,700 mm for providing easy access, along with two one-touch electric sliding doors.
According to Toyota, despite of its lanky height of 1,835 mm, the mini car can tackle hard cornering due to the presence of a stable suspension and body structure. As a output of larger shock absorbers, which are paired with stabilizers, the car has appropriate high speed stability. In order to reduce the center of gravity, the roof panel and back door are made of plastic composite whose sheet thickness is also significantly reduced. As a result, though the car is tall, the entire mass is concentrated closer to the road, which aids its handling capabilities.
Like most minivans, the eye-point has been adjusted at 1,387 mm, thus providing exceptional levels of driver visibility. There is an extra passenger-side mirror below the regular wing mirror to offer good viewing angles and make driving easier. Rear visibility is enhanced by the presence of mirrors positioned at the upper interior sections of the rear doors.
A 660 cc three-cylinder engine powers the Pixis Mega. This unit is based on a Daihatsu motor. The naturally aspirated version produces 52 PS of power, while its turbocharged counterpart is capable of 64 PS. According to the norms, 4WD is also present.
The starting price of the Pixis Mega is RM41,484.
