Toyota LQ concept car to display at 2019 Tokyo Motor Show
KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota is all set to showcase its LQ concept car at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. The show is scheduled to commence on October 24th in Tokyo Big Sight & Odaiba Area.
LQ concept car is the next-gen Toyota ‘Concept-i’ product. The concept was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2017. Powered by electricity, the concept vehicle is equipped with an AI-based interactive assistant called Yui. Apart from this car, Toyota is also going to bring the next-gen Mirai to the show.
Toyota has claimed that the electricity-powered vehicle has a range of around 300 km on a single charge. It is equipped with automated driving technology. The AI-based agent, Yui and the driving technology both are developed in collaboration with TRI (Toyota Research Institute). The carmaker has also announced that there will be ‘Toyota Yui Project Tours 2020’, including a public test-drive event, which is scheduled to run between June and September 2020.
Speaking of the AI-based assistant, Yui can change various things as per the user’s mood. It can change the position of the seat, music, lighting, and more. It can also talk to the user and as per the need, can deliver a personalized mobility experience. LQ Development head, Daisuke Ido said, “With the LQ, we are proud to propose a vehicle that can deliver a personalized experience, meet each driver’s unique mobility needs, and build an even stronger bond between car and driver.”
Inside, the car uses OLED technology. It also comes with an SAE Level 4 equivalent automated driving function and an automated parking system. With the parking system, there is no need to search for parking spaces. It improves accessibility for users with mobility limitations such as people with physical disabilities, pregnant women, seniors, users with infants, and people who have difficulty parking.
