Toyota introduces T-Mate for safer and easier driving

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota introduces a new umbrella name for its safety and advanced driver-assistance systems called T-Mate. It will be first rolled out in the European markets with the new models and other seasonal programmes. The T-Mate package will differ according to the features available in the specific model or variant.

As the auto industry moves towards further automated and self-driving cars, the Toyota T-Mate offers a new way to communicate the real-world benefits of ADAS. It combines Toyota Safety Sense with active driving and parking assistance systems and makes driving safer and easier, says Toyota. It is meant to protect occupants as well as other road users.

The debut of T-Mate coincides with the latest-gen Toyota Safety Sense that features several innovations and improvements. For the first time, the Pre-Collision System offers Acceleration Suppression at low speed and Intersection Cut-In Traffic Assist, along with an improved Oncoming Traffic detection and Intersection Turn Assist. The new Toyota Safety Sense also comprises an Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS).

Another big improvement available with the latest-gen TSS is Over The Air (OTA) updates, which means the ADAS will now be able to get up-to-date functions along with new ones throughout the model’s life.

• Parking Assistance - Toyota Teammate Advanced Park, Panoramic View Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Automatic Braking, Intelligence Clearance Sonar
• Driving Assistance - Blind Spot Monitoring, Adaptive High Beam System
