Toyota Corolla Cross looks stunning in the Modellista package

KUALA LUMPUR: Looks like Toyota wants to expand the Modellista brand to other models and markets (outside Japan). It was only a week ago that Toyota Motor Thailand introduced the Fortuner Modellista and now we hear the Toyota Corolla Cross Modellista is part of the kit too.

The Toyota Corolla Cross Modellista kit is available for two of the model variants - the 1.8 Hybrid Premium and 1.8 Hybrid Premium Safety. The elements that make up this kit include several unique exterior upgrades that give the crossover a stylish appearance. For instance, there is the new aero kit that includes - a front lip, rear bumper, and side skirts. Also, part of the Corolla Cross Modellista kit is stylish 18-inch alloys.

All the accessories mentioned above come with a 36 month or 100,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.

Available exterior hues for the Corolla Cross Modellista?

The kit is available in three colour tones - Metal Stream Metallic, Celestite Grey Metallic, and Platinum White Pearl.

Any interior changes? Well, no. The Modellista kit only concentrates on exterior cosmetic upgrades. In Thailand, customers have an option to choose the Corolla Cross interior in either Terra Rossa reddish-brown two-tone or regular all-black upholstery.

Power details?

As mentioned earlier, the Modellista package only concentrates on exterior revisions. So, like the interior, the powertrain configuration remains unchanged. Speaking of which, the Thai-spec model is powered by a 1.8-litre Atkinson cycle petrol unit making a maximum power of 98 PS at 5,200 rpm along with a peak torque of 142 Nm at 3,600 rpm. The mill is paired with an e-motor that makes 72 PS and 163 Nm. The total system output comes down to 122 PS. The motor is paired to a 6.4 Ah nickel-metal hybrid battery.

The drive is sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT unit.

Any changes on the safety front?

Nope. The safety kit remains the same with features the seven airbags, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, 360-degree surround-view camera, and blind spot warning.

The range-topping 1.8 Hybrid Premium Safety trim is the only one available with Toyota Safety Sense suite of features that includes - driver attention alert, AEB, auto high beam, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist.

Toyota Corolla Cross Modellista Edition price?

As per Toyota Thailand, the complete Modellista set for the Corolla Cross will cost 41,500 baht (approx. RM 5,270)
