Toyota CH-R concept SUV, birth of a rival challenging Nissan Qashqai
Kuala Lumpur: With the upcoming C-HR concept, Toyota has developed a new rival named Nissan Qashqai. The CH-R concept was revealed at last year's Paris motor show. Unlike the other crossovers, it has got some distinguished features like heavily flared wheel arches, angular haunches and 'floating' rear light clusters. This unique look of CH-R is created in response to a demand of being more adventurous by the president of Toyota, Akio Toyoda. The response to this demand can be seen in recent designs of Lexus, which is the Toyota's luxury brand.
This crossover is expected to be revealed at the Geneva motor show, which is scheduled to be held in March 2016. This vehicle would also be based on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform which is equivalent to Volkswagen's MBQ platform. Including the new Prius, a majority of the Toyota vehicles would be based on said platforms. Despite having slightly smaller dimensions than Qashqai, it would be able to deliver an enhanced space. The CH-R concept car measures 4350 mm long, 1850 mm wide along with a wheelbase of 2640 mm. Moreover, Toyota has also claimed to upgrade the quality and functionality of its interiors

Toyota UK president, Paul van der Burgh had said- “The high growth rate of sales of that sort of vehicle would be very good for us. The concept was excellent and the styling, in particular, stood out. If such a product were to launch, I'm confident it could be a best seller.” Though nothing much is revealed about the production version of C-HR concept, but rumours suggest that it would be dubbed as 'Auris Cross'.
