Toyota C-HR+ electric SUV revealed in Europe

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota has introduced an all-new battery-electric SUV in the European market called the C-HR+. It is a production version of the bZ Compact SUV Concept previewed in 2022. Let’s get to know this new Japanese EV in detail.

    Dimensions

    The EV is based on the same e-TNGA platform, which also underpins the Malaysia-bound bZ4X SUV. Dimensionally, the new Toyota electric SUV measures 4,520 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width, and 1,595 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. The boot capacity is estimated at 416 litres.

    Drivetrain, range, and charging

    The C-HR+ will be offered in front-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive options. The base-spec FWD trim generates 167 PS of maximum power, while the higher-spec FWD makes 224 PS. The all-wheel drive variant is tuned to deliver 343 PS.

    Two battery options are - 57.7kWh and 77kWh, offering a WLTP-claimed range of 455 km and 600 km, respectively. As for charging, the EV supports up to 22kW AC and up to 150kW DC systems.

    Exterior

    In terms of design, the production-spec C-HR+ shares a lot of similarities with its concept model, including the distinctive 'hammerhead' front-end design and sloping roofline. Key highlights include - 

    • C-shaped DRLs above the main headlamps
    • Wide lower intake with vertical elements on the front bumper
    • Rising beltline near the C-pillar with integrated rear door handles
    • Full-width light bar with a dotted tail light signature
    • Rectangular rear apron with a two-piece roof spoiler and diffuser element

    Interior 

    The interior is modern and streamlined, creating an open and welcoming feel. Toyota claims that the Toyota C-HR+ will offer “Class above” interior space to occupants.

    • 14-inch touchscreen infotainment unit 
    • Digital instrument cluster
    • Rotary gear selector
    • Two wireless smartphone chargers 
    • Panoramic roof
    • Ambient light
    • Toyota T-Mate along with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of active safety and driver assistance systems

    While the launch of the all-new Toyota C-HR+ EV is slated to happen in select European markets by late 2025, no information is yet available on the pricing.
