Top 40 cars to keep an eye out in Auto Expo 2020
India is one of the primary and growing automobile markets in the world. A plethora of car brands stepped into this land of diversity to benefit from the increasing demand and love for cars. And to help the companies showcase their new and upcoming products, India has its own auto or motor show called Auto Expo. It is similar to what we have here in Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur International Motors Show (KLIMS).
Auto Expo 2020 is just around the corner and this year it is expected to bring a wide range of new cars which could eventually be launched in our country, too. So here are the top 40 cars that we are looking forward to seeing in the Auto Expo 2020.
Kia Carnival
Kia entered the Indian market with its Seltos which received a great response from the audience. Keeping that in mind, Kia wanted to expand its product line-up for its Indian fans and thus, we have the Carnival - a luxurious van with impressive engine specs and features. Kia is expected to launch the Carnival at the Auto Expo 2020.
Kia QYI
Based on the Hyundai Venue, Kia QYI would be a sub 4 metre SUV that would feature a set of similar engine options. It is expected to share Kia’s pavilion with the Carnival in a pre-production form. Rumours say that it would see the light of the day later this year.
Kia Seltos X-Line Concept
Kia Seltos received a lot of love by the Indians, perhaps, that’s why Kia is going to showcase the Seltos X-Line Concept at the Auto Expo 2020. It is a custom-built off-roading version of the stock Seltos which might spark an interest in more potential customers.
2020 Hyundai Creta
The much-loved Hyundai Creta would be showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 in its second-generation. To make it more desirable, Hyundai has implemented changes in its exterior and interior and also added BS6 compliant engines. Expect this car to reach dealerships around March 2020.
Hyundai Verna Facelift
Hyundai Verna is one of the highest-selling cars of its segment. It has a fan following of its own. Its facelifted version with updated BS6 engine options and added features would be displayed at Hyundai’s pavilion.

Catering to the SUV demands of the Indian market, Hyundai has its Tucson in the product line-up. For 2020, it would receive the mandatory BS6 update to stay in the market. Hyundai would showcase it, too.
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios N-Line
Trying its hand in the hot-hatch segment for the Indian market, Hyundai would put up its Grand i10 Nios N-Line on the stands. It should be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out around 100 horses. Expected launch by March 2020.
Hyundai Le Fil Rouge concept
To let the people know what it is capable of, Hyundai would also present its Le Fil Rouge concept which was first put out in the public at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. It is clearly a car of the future.
Maruti Futuro-E
Considering the inevitable adaptation to electric vehicles, Maruti would showcase its Futuro-E, an electric SUV which would compete against the Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, and Hyundai Kona Electric. These are the only fully electric cars available in India right now.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift
Maruti might launch the facelifted model of one of its highest-selling compact SUVs, the Brezza. We are expecting to see various changes on the outside and inside. However, the main inclusion would be a new petrol engine under the hood.
Maruti S-Cross Petrol
Complying to India’s more stringent BS6 emission norms that will be implemented coming April, manufacturers are updating their product line-up to meet the new standards. Maruti S-Cross would get the same treatment and receive an updated petrol engine. Aesthetic changes are unlikely.
Maruti Ignis Facelift
To keep things fresh, Maruti would also display a facelifted model of its Ignis. Changes would be limited to just aesthetics with the rest of the car being left unchanged. More details at the Auto Expo 2020.
Maruti Swift Hybrid
Diesel engine cars are very popular in India, however, not every manufacturer is carrying forward its diesel engines into the BS6 era. Maruti, too, is planning to let this fuel go and focus on hybrid variants. Hence, it would showcase its Swift Hybrid at the Auto Expo 2020. Rumours have it that this car would also have a pure EV mode.
Tata Gravitas
Tata, one of India’s largest automobile manufacturers and owner of Jaguar Land Rover, would display its new flagship SUV for the Indian market that goes by the name Gravitas. It has already been showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show under the moniker Buzzard.

Tata Altroz EV
Tata recently launched its new premium hatchback Altroz and now would be coming up with an electric version of the same - Altroz EV. This would be Tata’s second fully electric car after the Nexon EV. It is being said that the Altroz EV would have a range of around 300 km. It will be present at the Auto Expo 2020 in its pre-production avatar and its launch could happen by early 2021.
Tata H2X
It seems Tata wants to have an SUV in each segment. With its smaller-than-Nexon H2X SUV, Tata would give direct competition to Renault Kwid. A pre-production model of the H2X is expected to be up on the stands.
Mahindra XUV500 EV Concept
We can get an idea of Mahindra’s know-how in electric vehicles by the fact that it participates in Formula E races. Utilising that expertise to build ‘normal’ electric cars, Mahindra has created XUV500 EV Concept which is likely to be showcased at the Auto Expo.
Mahindra XUV300 EV
We would also be accompanied by a pre-production model of Mahindra XUV300 EV, a rather smaller, sub-4-metre fully electric SUV with an expected range of 300 km.
Mahindra eKUV100
Following suit would be Mahindra eKUV100 with the aim of being India’s most affordable electric car. Its starting price could be under Rs 9 lakh (RM 52,000 approx).
MG Hector 6-seater
MG has done decent business in India with its Hector. Now, it would be revealing a 6-seater version of the same. This trim would have captain seats in the 2nd row making it a more comfortable proposition than the standard Hector. Other specs would likely remain untouched. The launch is expected to happen in the first half of 2020.
MG Gloster
To compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, MG would reveal its Gloster for the Indian market. This 3-row premium SUV goes by the name Maxus D90 outside India. Expected launch is by mid-2020.

MG RC-6
Perhaps, the last vehicle from MG would be the RC-6. Sold in China under the care of MG’s sister brand Baojun, the RC-6 would be a crossover coupe similar to the Volvo S60 Cross Country. Expected launch is in 2021.
Renault HBC
Renault might use the Auto Expo platform to introduce its new offering in the sub-4-metre SUV segment that goes by the codename HBC. We are pretty sure Renault has been testing this new vehicle for quite some time now.
Renault Triber 1.0-L Turbo & AMT
Renault is likely to add a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine option with AMT for its sub-4-metre MPV Triber. It will showcase this along with the current model at the Expo.
Renault Zoe
Renault might also showcase its compact electric hatchback called Zoe. It is already being offered in the European markets. Renault’s intentions with this electric car would be to make people aware of it. However, we don’t think it would launch it in India anytime soon. Perhaps, it could have a future here in Malaysia? What do you think?
Renault Kwid Electric
What we think Renault would bring to India is the Kwid Electric. It was unveiled in China last year and goes by the name City K-ZE. It is said to have a range of 275 km.
Skoda VISION IN Concept
To give rivalry to the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, Skoda has been working on its made-for-India SUV with the VISION IN concept. It is based on the Indian version of VW Group’s MQB A0 platform.
Skoda Rapid TSI
Skoda would replace the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engine options of the Rapid with a new 1.0-litre turbocharged BS6 engine. No other major changes are expected. It would be showcased at the Expo.
Skoda Octavia vRS245
Skoda has decided to not convert the current Octavia into BS6, instead replace it with the next-gen model. So to bid adieu to the Octavia, Skoda has come up with a limited-edition vRS245 performance variant which would be launched at the Expo.
Skoda Karoq
Being a successor to the Skoda Yeti, the Karoq had to be tough and rugged. It comes with a 4WD option and is already on sale in various international markets. Skoda would showcase this model at the Expo.
Volkswagen T-Roc

Putting rest to the thirst of many car enthusiasts, Mercedes-Benz would be bringing its AMG GT 4-door Coupe - a performance car that is powered by a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 which churns out 639 PS and 900 Nm of torque! We are expecting it to be present at the Expo but would be launched sometime in 2021.
