KUALA LUMPUR: Car enthusiasts and fans of Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) vehicles are gearing up for an adrenaline-pumping event as the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur returns for its second year.

Expanding the Experience
The event has significantly expanded in size for 2024, featuring a broader range of activities and displays. Highlights include an auto styling competition judged by Japan’s top tuners, car club meetups, auto trading sessions, drifting demonstrations, a racing simulator challenge, and live performances.
Competitions such as the pop & bang challenge, audio battles, and more will add to the excitement.
Renowned tuner Smoky Nagata from Top Secret is set to make his return to the event, with notable brands like Veilside, Trust/Greddy, Option, Tomica, and San Ei Corporation among the key exhibitors.
Fans of Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur will also be able to purchase official merchandise, which includes t-shirts with graphics of iconic JDM models like the R33, R34, and R35 Nissan GT-Rs, Honda Civic Type Rs, and more. A 5% discount will be available for those who shop online.

Exciting Ambassadors and Iconic Appearances
Adding to the spectacle, this year’s show will introduce the Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2024 ambassadors. Race queens from Japan will also join, and one lucky Malaysian ambassador will have the chance to represent the country at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan.

A Global Legacy, Locally Hosted
The Tokyo Auto Salon is one of the world’s most prestigious auto shows, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023. First held in Japan in 1983, the event is a celebration of the creativity and innovation behind JDM cars, and it has become a global platform for showcasing the latest aftermarket parts and performance accessories.
The Kuala Lumpur edition, organized by Element X Strategies and MUSE Group Asia under license, is the only iteration held outside of Japan.

GT-R Festival and Special Giveaways
Ahead of the main event, a GT-R Festival was held in Penang, featuring a special appearance by Hiroshi Tamura, Nissan’s Brand Ambassador and the man behind the modern GT-R. GT-R owners enjoyed an exclusive gathering and convoy drive, with the public invited to view some of the rarest GT-R models, including the iconic Top Secret T-Spec.
Back at MITEC, visitors to the Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2024 can enter the grand lucky draw for a chance to win a modified 2019 Honda Civic FK8R Type R Mugen.
The unregistered car is powered by a 2.0-litre VTEC turbocharged engine producing 318 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, with modifications including a Mugen bodykit, Mugen gear knob, 20-inch TE37 Rays wheels, and an aftermarket exhaust system. Ticket holders can enter by topping up RM28 on their ticket purchase.
In addition to the FK8R, YRN Customs will be giving away a modified BMW E36 325i sedan. Visitors who spend RM15 or more stand a chance to win, with the announcement set for November 10.
