KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, the Toyota Land Cruiser nameplate is now 70 years old, and it definitely calls for a celebration. The Japanese automaker is doing so by introducing a special edition Land Cruiser 70 Series.
Exclusive to the Australian market, the 70th Anniversary Land Cruiser 70 Series will be a 600 unit limited model, spread across three body styles including - 80 wagons, 200 single cabs, and 320 double cabs.
Based on the range-topping GXL variant, the limited edition Land Cruiser is easily distinguished by its black heritage grille with Toyota badging, black front bumper, and black wheel arch extensions. Other exterior highlights include -
- Darkened 16-inch alloy wheels
- Black headlamp surrounds with LED front fog lamps and DRLs
- ‘Heritage’ Land Cruiser badge over the front wheel arch

As for the cabin, it comes fitted with several new equipment earlier missing from the regular production model. For instance, it gets premium black upholstery, black-accented trim on the gear lever & steering wheel, wood grain-look alike pieces on the instrument panel, silver accents on air-con vents, black door interior cards, redesigned black centre console, and an additional pair of 2.1-amp Type A USB charger outlets.
What powers the 70th Anniversary Land Cruiser 70 Series model?
The special edition Land Cruiser sources power from a 4.5-litre turbo diesel V8 mill that pumps out a maximum power of 202 hp along with a peak torque of 405 Nm. The power is sent to wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
It continues to feature front & rear locking differentials, low-range gearing, 3,500 kg towing capacity, 130-litre fuel tank capacity, and an elevated engine air intake.
