This cute fully-electric Nissan is named after cherry blossom
KUALA LUMPUR: The car you see above is called Nissan Sakura, a name inspired by the Japanese Cherry Blossom. And likewise, the car is as cute as the flowers that the world goes crazy for.
Nissan’s new electric mini-vehicle, the Sakura is designed with a purpose in mind, all of which and more we’ll discuss below -
- The car’s front fascia features slim headlamps that showcase a futuristic design and feature a triple beam projector that offers enhanced visibility at night
- The stretched taillamps across the tailgate when lit will be more noticeable that the bloom of a million cherry blossoms
- The side profile features unique aluminum wheels inspired by ‘mizuhiki’, a unique Japanese decorative knot design commonly found on packages and envelopes
- The cabin reminds one of the supercompact apartments in Tokyo, Japan. And likewise it doesn’t fall short of technology. It gets a 7-inch digital meter, a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto with on-board navigation
- The interior is splashed in soft colour tones and even features little Sakura motifs
- The mini vehicle comes equipped with a Nissan ProPILOT driver assistance system that includes autonomous braking,lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control
- It comes with a ProPilot Park system, making it the first minivehicle to park itself
- The car offers a range of 180 km and gets fully-charged in just 8 hours.
- In an event of emergency, its battery can be used to power a typical Japanese household
Nissan Sakura powertrain configuration
Powering the Sakura is a 20 kWh 350V lithium-ion battery generating a maximum power of 64 hp along with a peak torque of 195 Nm. The drive is sent to the front wheels via an e-motor.
Further, helping it with the performance are three driving modes - Standard, Eco, and Sport, along with a one-pedal driving system called the e-Pedal step system.
