Third-gen BMW X6 makes its official debut

KUALA LUMPUR: Known as the Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) in the auto world, the BMW X6 now has a third-gen model. The previous two generations had a good run with over 443,000 units sold worldwide. The new version showcases a completely redesigned visual appearance and even holds several upmarket equipment with some borrowed from the flagship 7 Series.

First things first, the size of the car has witnessed growth in every direction. It now measures 4,935 mm in length (26 mm more), 2,004 mm in width (15 mm more), and 1,696 mm in height (6 mm less). The wheelbases now measure 2,975 mm, and that’s 42 mm growth.

As for the car’s engine configuration, it is offered in two petrol and two diesel mills. The former includes - the M50i with a 530 PS/750 Nm 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 unit and a 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine that powers the xDrive40i and makes 340 PS and 450 Nm. On the diesel front, both the trims the sDrive30d and M50d are tuned with a 3.0-litre turbo mill. The former, it churns out 265 PS/ 620 Nm, while in the latter it offers 400 PS/ 760 Nm.

All the variants feature an 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox with a BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Also, they all hit 250 kmph of top speed.
