The most powerful version of the Toyota Hilux GR Sport introduced

KUALA LUMPUR: Don’t get your hopes high as it’s not Malaysia but the Australian market that is scheduled to receive the most powerful version of the Toyota Hilux GR Sport pickup.

While the new Hilux GR Sport is scheduled to arrive in the Australian market in the second half of 2023, the automaker is gracious enough to provide essential details.

Here’s what we know about the most powerful Toyota Hilux GR Sport variant -

• The new Toyota Hilux GR Sport will be powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine with revised fuel injection and turbochargers. Together they help the mill generate a max power of 224 hp along with a peak torque of 550 Nm
• The performance version also benefits from wider tracks both at the front and rear, 140 mm and 155 mm respectively

• The design revisions also include a reinforced front axle and redesigned wishbones
• For improved capability, the Australian-spec Hilux GR Sport gets monotube shock absorbers with higher damping force and heat-dissipation capability along with reduced body roll and stiffer coil springs

• The pickup’s exterior profile benefits from enhanced aerodynamic efficiency thanks to its wind tunnel-sculpted body parts
• The pickup rides on massive 17-inch alloys

• On the inside, the pickup showcases a monochromatic black theme which very well goes with the red seatbelt and bright sports pedals
• Shouting out its GR nature loud is the GR branding which can be seen on the headrests, steering wheel, and red brake calipers
