The all-new Volkswagen Tiguan now open for bookings

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has started accepting pre-bookings for the all-new Tiguan. The locally-assembled Tiguan is expected to be launched within the next few weeks with the tentative price of RM149,000 to RM169,000.

As an added bonus for the early birds, VPCM is offering a special RM7,000 discount on the Tiguan for a limited number of customers.

Built on Volkswagen’s versatile MQB platform, the all-new Tiguan gets a completely new design which Volkswagen claims ‘radiates power and authority’. To us, the new SUV definitely looks more handsome with neat and clean lines. The Tiguan, a winner of 2017 German Design Awards, is now wider, lower, and longer compared to its predecessor, resulting in a striking profile with dynamic appearance. The design is also said to reduce the overall drag by 40 percent.

Akin to Volkswagen’s other premium models, the new Tiguan also receives luxurious interior features such as 8’’ ‘Discover Media’ infotainment system, three-zone Climatronic and Active Info Display with a 1,440 x 540 pixel high-resolution 12.3’’ screen that enables the driver to switch from five different view configurations.

Two attractive trims are offered in the new Tiguan namely, the Comfortline and Highline.The Comfortline is equipped with 17-inch ‘Montana’ alloy wheels, front and rear Park Distance Control (PDC), ‘Rhombus’ fabric interior and black roof rails, while the Highline variant gets 18-inch ‘Kingston’ alloy wheels, Park Assist 3.0, full LED headlights with LED DRLs, silver roof rails and electric tailgate.

The all-new compact SUV is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged direct injection multi-port engine which is mated to a 6-speed wet-clutch DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) unit. The powerplant produces 150 hp of power and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. With fuel economy rated at 6.7L/100 km, the Tiguan is recognized as an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV).

The new Tiguan comes in five colours; Pure White, Deep Black, Atlantic Blue, Tungsten Silver and Indium Grey. Those who are interested to get up-close with the new SUV can do so, as the vehicle is displayed at Volkswagen Sales Tour at the new wing of 1, Utama Shopping Centre from March 1 to March 5, 2017.
