Tesla Model S to be Equipped with Self-Parking System
Kuala Lumpur: The American automarque has recently introduced its Tesla Model S with Self-Parking System that will be triggered via an iPhone app. This feature will enable Tesla S to drive off itself inside the garage even in the absence of the driver. During the testing of this feature, a footage was captured. This footage revealed that Tesla S model takes few seconds to drive itself even after the garage shutter is open. Recently Tesla, faced an issue with its seatbelts and recalled 90,000 Tesla S models.
Already, Tesla has created a distinct position in the automobile world and with the latest innovation in the technology, the brand is aiming to gather the attention of customers in an effective manner. Engineers of Tesla automobiles are working towards creating some software that will enable it to overcome this time lag. It will automatically facilitate the self-parking to be quicker. The elite German automaker, BMW has already introduced driverless parking in the all-new BMW 7 Series and looks like Tesla is the first brand to follow the footprints of BMW.
As, all the prominent brands are trying to come up with autonomous driving technology it is expected that the wait for fully-autonomous cars will be over soon in few years. Tesla S model has paved a way for producing self-driving cars and Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, claims that fully autonomous cars will be accessible in the coming 5-6 years. In this competition of creating automating cars, there are few more brands which are competing head to head and some of them are Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Audi, and BMW which will be experimenting on producing such intelligent vehicles.
Such cars will be equipped with incredible sensors and GPS mapping systems that will enable autonomous cars to act smartly on the road. According to the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) assumptions, there will be a production of approximately 75% autonomous cars by 2040. The IEEE cites that these autonomous cars will prove to be the most profitable and usable ones in the segment of intelligent vehicles.
Concerning about the consequences of these future self-driving cars, there could be many reasons of drawbacks in this segment. Autonomous cars may be held accountable for damages on the road. This will lead to a loss of both; the company and the owner. The vulnerability of the car's navigation system; it may fail in the case of severe weather changes. There may be a loss of jobs related to driving etc.
This will be a question in the minds of the customers that how these smart cars will act on the streets and at what price these cars will be offered to the buyers. We will wait to see the future results of using autonomous cars when these cars will be released on the road.
