KEY TAKEAWAYS
Has the prices gone up for the Tesla Model Y in Malaysia?
Yes, roughly around RM4k for the facelift modelWhat's new?
A refreshed front and rear end, as well as improvement in cabin comfort as well as techThis update comes just a day after the refreshed model was revealed globally without its camouflage. Just as a reference, the original model Y was first unveiled globally in 2019, with Malaysia receiving it in 2024.
According to Tesla's website, deliveries for the 2025 Model Y Juniper are scheduled to begin in late April 2025. A waiting period of around three months is a significant improvement compared to the eight-month wait experienced by early Model Y buyers when Tesla first entered the Malaysian market.
According to the website, two variants of the Model Y Juniper are now available: Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive Long Range (AWD). Here's what each variant offers:
- Rear-Wheel Drive
- Range: Up to 466 km (WLTP-rated)
- 0-100 km/h: 5.9 seconds
- Top Speed: 201 km/h
- Long Range All-Wheel Drive
- Range: Up to 551 km
- 0-100 km/h: 4.3 seconds
- Top Speed: 201 km/h
Compared to the outgoing model, the facelifted versions offer a slight improvement in range—11 km more for the RWD and 37 km more for the AWD Long Range.
It may not sound like much, but hey, when it comes to EVs, every extra kilometer counts, especially given the concerns of range in consumer preferences.
As for pricing, the Model Y Juniper starts at:
- Rear-Wheel Drive: RM195,450
- Long Range All-Wheel Drive: RM242,450
This represents a modest price increase of approximately RM4,000 compared to the earlier models launched in Malaysia earlier this year.
With a lot of facelift vehicles, the changes can be minimal, but the 2025 Tesla Model Y Juniper facelift brings several key improvements, which makes it more appealing to newer buyers.
According to Tesla, Its aerodynamics have been enhanced with newly designed wheels and a revamped rear diffuser, which work together to reduce drag and improve stability at higher speeds.
Inside, the ride is quieter than ever, thanks to a new double-layered acoustic glass for all windows and additional soundproofing.
The interior has been refreshed with ventilated seats and a modern design inspired by the Model 3 Highland facelift.
Comfort has not seem to be forgotten about, with an improved panoramic glass roof that effectively reduces heat and UV exposure. This is important for hotter countries like ours.
Although the silhouette remains the same, the 2025 Tesla Model Y Juniper facelift brings notable updates to its exterior design.
At the front, it features a full-width light bar inspired by the Cybertruck, with the headlights now positioned lower in the bumper.
The front hood has also been reshaped, adding a new dimension to its appearance. At the rear, a full-width light bar is complemented by a Tesla script positioned below it.
As usual for Tesla. there are optional bits of kits that can be added on, so here's a general specification tables to what both variants have on offer:
