Gen2 platform
As mentioned earlier, the new Tata Curvv is based on the brand’s newly-developed platform named Gen2. Basically, it is an evolution of the automaker’s existing platforms, which is better suited for EVs. It is a scalable and flexible architecture that can support different vehicle sizes and shapes as well as a variety of engine options. That means the brand will be rolling out ICE-powered vehicles based on the same platform later in the future.
“Less-Is-More” exterior
Apart from the new platform, the new EV concept also debuts Tata’s new “Less-Is-More” design language with minimalist touches helping it to create a standout. These comprise -
- A sleek LED DRL underneath the hood across its width Instead of the conventional grill
- A chunky bumper and skid plate offering a nice and beefy upfront stance
- Triangular headlights on either corner of the front bumper
- No conventional door handles and outside rearview mirrors
- Frameless door, which, however, unexpected to be on the road-ready version
- Full-width LED strip on the rear with triangular housings on the edges of the bumper
- Rear thick cladding along the bottom edge with a vertical light strip in the middle
Aero-optimized wheels
The Tata Curvv concept EV features specially designed 20-inch wheels that are optimised for aerodynamic efficiency. The wheels are wrapped in Pirelli rubbers which are unlikely to be offered on the production car.
Advanced interior
Just like the exterior, the Tata Curvv cabin also benefits from the “Less-Is-More'' design philosophy. Main highlights include a new-gen 2-spoke steering wheel with premium-looking toggles and the brand’s digital logo, an LED light bar running across the width of the dashboard, a panoramic touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver’s display, sporty front seats with premium upholstery, and a panoramic glass roof.
The car has no traditional centre console; instead, it has a dainty glass-topped console with a drive mode dial mounted on it.
The EV will be equipped with cloud compatibility for telematics and support over-the-air software updates. It will also have Advanced Driver Assist Systems.
Range between 400 and 500 km
The Indian automaker claims that the production vehicle will offer a certifiable range somewhere between 400 and 500 km. As for charging, the owners will be able to charge it with both AC and DC sources.
