Subaru XV gets updates for 2021 in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The official distributor of Subaru cars in Malaysia, TC Subaru Sdn Bhd, has recently announced some important updates for the XV crossover, which are just limited to the 2.0i-P variant. The changes centre around the cabin making it more plush, elegant, and hi-tech.

The seats of the updated XV are wrapped in Leather Suede Deluxe that is made from the combination of two premium interior materials - luxurious leather and sporty suede. The designers have chosen a colourway of gloss black, matte black and sleek silver it, which perfectly team up with the cabin's signature orange stitching. Replacing the fabric seats available in the earlier model, this upholstery update is exclusive to Malaysian and Thai markets, Subaru confirms.

Another significant update available in the 2021 XV 2.0i-P is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity support on the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. This means the XV buyers will now be able to constantly connect with their messaging, entertainment, and navigation apps effortlessly.

Other than these, the model continues to feature one-touch cruise control, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable driver’s seat, paddle shifters, rear-view camera, and so on. As for safety also, the Subaru XV specs sheet carries a number of strong bits. The list of exterior colour choices includes Pure White, Dark Grey Metallic, Ice Silver Metallic, Dark Blue Pearl, Cool Grey Khaki, and Sunshine Orange.

Under the bonnet, the crossover carries the same FB20 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 156 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 196 Nm at 4,000 rpm. On the transmission front, it gets a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission and a symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.

Well, the changes are few but seem enough to lure customers who now have to pay RM 3,000 more on account of updates, of course. This increases the total price tag to RM 131,788 (on-the-road without insurance, inclusive of SST). Included in the price is a five-year/100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty.
